[ARCHIVED] Taking the County's Pulse: Berkshire Benchmarks Releases 2023 Update

Berkshire Benchmarks, an online data source for Berkshire County supported by the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, released its State of the County Update 2023. You can download the update's PDF here.

The 2023 update builds on the May 2022 report. The indicators that showed noteworthy changes are cited, including income inequality (up), self-employment (up), unemployment (down), public school pre-K enrollment (returned to pre-pandemic levels), per pupil funding (up), average single-family tax bill (up), percentage of the tax levy ceiling (down), housing and transportation costs as percent of income (up), second homes (up), and net migration (increase for the first time in decades).

The update concludes with a list of indicators to watch going forward.
