The Berkshire Eagle and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center will co-host an informational forum on the proposed merger of Southern Berkshire Regional School and Berkshire Hills Regional School Districts, Wed., October 4, from 7 to 8:30 PM.
In-person attendance is free, but you must register here; seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Doors will open at 6:30 PM. You can submit a question when you register.
"The forum will include a presentation from members of the 8-Town Regional School District Planning Board, which voted to recommend the merger proposal, as well as a presentation from a group opposing the plan, which includes past and previous 8-Town Planning Board members who voted against recommending the merger or abstained." (Berkshire Eagle, 9.30.2023)
As the Eagle points out, "A merger between two already regionalized school districts likely would be a first in Massachusetts — it will have deep, long-lasting impacts on these school communities, from school buildings and budgets to staffing and student resources to curricula and transportation."
Be informed. Check the School Committee's web page for more information about the SBRSD and the merger as it becomes available. You can also submit questions to Superintendent Dr. Beth Regulbuto here.
