In the 4th quarter of 2022, the Town of Egremont collected in the blue textile recycling bins at the Transfer Station a whopping 6,402 lb of fabrics (including clothing, linens, and shoes), with the Town receiving $448.14 as payment. The items from the bins are donated to Big Brothers/Big Sisters for reuse or sent to a textile recycler to be broken down and made into new items, mostly cleaning cloths and car rugs. 90% of recycled textiles are wearable and distributed in the U.S. For more information on Egremont's recycling, visit the Green Committee and Transfer Station Recycling Center pages.
